It's very obvious that no plants from those 2 big-box stores can ever be trusted, no matter what it says on the plants!

This would affect butterflies, moths & I'd be pretty sure it will kill Hummingbirds as well.

Just saw this study from the Netherlands about the effect on bird populations. I know we've been talking about bees mostly but there's that whole "circle of life" thing we all learned from school (and "The Lion King"). At least the end of the article says the EU is imposing a moratorium of its use on flowering crops.

Edited to add another article which goes into a little more depth. Scary stuff!

That is not good. We had "Silent Spring" and "Since Silent Spring". What is it now "Since Since Silent Spring".

Me too. (scared)
This may sound odd to say but it's times like now when I am thrilled that I don't have any kids & therefore no grandkids either.

And thanks Melanie.

I'm not really sure I want to live long enough to see all the massive extinctions that will happen because of all the mistakes we've been making. Ecology involves many domino effects and very delicate inter-species balances where the fate of one effects the others. And I do have an adult child, with two grandchildren, so it'll affect them. On PBS, they're been running documentaries on species that organizations & governments are trying to save...it's really sad!

The extinction rate is just out of control now. I spent my last 50 years fighting the loss of fauna. With new diseases, some of it just happened right in front of my eyes.
Our Government wildlife service is now saying there is not enough money to address all the State's threatened species and they will have to select a few to target. They call it "triage". Such a laugh - they never did anything in the past to stop the declines anyway.

Jay, I am gob-smacked. I always leave stuff for herps and insects but I never thought if doing it "formally" or less straggly. Wonderful.
