Grapes of Wrath, Wine or Raisins

By Sharon

Grapes! These amazing little round balls of sweetness are also great for our health, no matter whether they are fresh off the vine, served dry and wrinkled, or sipped slowly and savored as wine.

Great article Sharon - thank you so much. I really enjoyed the photo's and all the research you did as well. Thank you!

We had the purple grapes when I was a child. Loved eating them off the vine and mom made jelly. We also had them at our home in OH and I made jelly and juice too.

And here's the latest thing I'm eating. Gin soaked raisins. You can't taste the gin at all. It's supposed to help with my achy joints. Stay tuned....

Thanks again!

Good morning, VIc.

Once when we were boating and somehow the aches were getting to me, there was an older boating friend who gave me gin soaked raisins. I hate gin, but I know what you are saying, I couldn't taste it. It must have helped because I kept on boating. I hadn't thought of that in years and of course have absolutely no gin around here. With all this weed yanking, I might ought to think about it. Smiling

The directions said not to eat them until the gin evaporated and I can't taste it either. I'm not a big raisin fan but if this works, I'll be ever so thankful. I don't care for the taste of gin either but love the fragrance. Reminds me of Christmas trees Green Grin!

Just remember, grapes and raisins may be good for people, but keep them away from your dogs! Even just a few can cause kidney failure in dogs.

Smiling I worry about these things, ya know. Smiling
BTW, I did NOT know about freezing grapes! What a, er, "cool" idea! Hilarious! DH loves grapes (and yes, I nag him constantly not to give them to the dogs), and I'll bet he'd like frozen ones.

When Sunshine -- now 90 pounds btw -- chased her first grape across the floor, I screamed.

So yep, I know.
Frozen grapes are great.

I can see us all sitting back with fans, feeding ourselves grapes, while the guys toil over the wine making . . .

Sunshine is 90 lbs!? Yow! She's almost as big as my kids! Heck, she might outweigh our Great Pyr (she's small for a Pyr).

Gotta try freezing those grapes. Hee hee, toss a couple in my glass of wine.

They are great in wine. Also great in lemonade.

They said -- She's as big as she'll get -- they said when I got her, 35 - 40 pounds. Yep, as big as she'll get, a medium sized dog, they said.
And now, a year later I sure hope she's as big as she'll get.

And yes, she's almost as big as I am. Great dog! And she gets no grapes at all. Smiling
