Hi,
Your two photos posted under Stachys macrantha are actually Stachys officinalis.
Could you please ask to have them moved?
Thanks,
Lori

Hi Lori,

I do not agree with you. Please have a look at my website to see the difference between the 2 plants. I have them both. www.seedsite.eu
Always open to your comments.

Kind regards,
Jonna

Hi,Jonna,
The main differences are habit, leaf shape and character of the flower spike.
The habit of Stachys macrantha is to form a wide, bushy mound of foliage, with flowering stems extending slightly above the foliage. The flower racemes are short, and the individual flowers are quite large. The basal leaves are broad and heart-shaped. Here are some examples:

By contrast, Stachys officinalis has an upright habit, with long flower spikes of small flowers held on long upright stems. The leaves are strongly elongated and arranged at intervals up the long, upright stems.

Even this compact 'Densiflorus' selection shows the same upright, long-stemmed character of Stachys officinalis, though dwarfed: http://www.songsparrow.com/cat...

This article has more photos that show the differences and also compares them in a chart:

Hi Lori, sorry that I didn't reply to your post.
I'm fighting breast cancer, and I have only a little energy.
Hope to come back to your post later.

Jonna I hope this finds you strong. I have this same plant and the label said macrantha and I submitted the photo and Lori saw it. You know the rest. She was correct then and now. Have a look in the database and you'll see the differences. I tip my hat to you.
