Hoop it up!

I was trying to think of an easier way to keep bloom-laden butterfly bushes from flopping over, and I came up with this idea.

That would probably work on peonies too.

I think this idea would work on a LOT of plants! Small shrubs, large veggie plants, and numerous ornamental plants! What a cool idea! I never would have thought of using hoola hoops! Thanks, Ric! Hurray!

Great idea! now that I am in a horrible climate where it doesn't rain much every time there is real rain everything flops, and this will add color to those cold, endless drab winter days!

Just saw this idea and think it is great! I have peonies that I would like to try this with, but am not sure if the hoola hoop would work it's way back down the stems. Has anyone tried this with success on peonies?

Vickie, I would think a smaller hoop would work on peonies. You can make them to the size you need using a flexible PVC, ABS, or pex pipe and a straight connector. Any of these are available at a Lowes, HD, or Ace hardware. Just remember that you need 3.25 times the pipe as the intended diameter, such as 1' hoop would need 3.25' of pipe.
