The cultivars of Salvia officinalis that are listed in our database as Purpurea and Purpurascens have different height and width data, which makes me wonder whether the cultivar we have listed as Purpurascens might actually be a subspecies that was once known as Salvia officinalis var. purpurascens and was later reclassified as a synonym for Salvia officinalis subsp. oxyodon.

As for Salvia officinalis 'Purpurascens Variegated,' I agree that it is a superfluous entry if all of the purpurascens salvias are variegated. Are there any non-variegated ones?
) you have it listed as 'Purpurea' but also make reference to 'Purpurascense' ( "It is known botanically both as Salvia officinalis 'Purpurea' and Salvia officinalis 'Purpurascens'." ) There are still separate listings for each on ATP and an additional Salvia officinalis 'Purpurascens Variegata' that would seem to be improper if 'Purpurea' is correct. I submitted a photo under Salvia officinalis 'Purpurascens' because everything i could find pointed to that being the proper epithet. This prompted my initial inquiry on how/where to make data change proposal. It seems interchangeable everywhere I look. ICRS was what led me to FTBS. Perhaps there all correct?
