I was surprised to see my bees visiting the tapioca; I didn't realize that the plant was attractive to them. Now I have another reason to love this wonderfully easy to grow and attractive tropical looking shrub.
Dave, I see they are growing outdoors along the barn wall at your place. How is it you can grow them there when the db says minimum cold hardiness is 10a? They sure are pretty plants & I would like to grow them here but didn't think I could.

I never noticed the hardiness zone in our database. That is DEFINITELY in error. These tapiocas have been in the same spot since 2010 and are reliable plants. They always die to the ground every winter and in the spring they quickly regrow to about 10 feet high. I'll update the database.
Thank you! I will certainly be in the market for some of those plants. I love the foliage. I love the blooms. I love that the bees love the blooms. In short, what's not to love?
