Ooo, ooo, I forgot to mention that my Red Admirals are back! I saw two in my yard today. The always hang out near my echies...and last year there were virtually no butterflies anywhere, so I'm totally pumped!

virginiarose said:I do not have a lot of luck with Echinacea so I buy the three inch pots from SRG or GHS, at certain times of the year they are on sale and I can get them pretty cheap and I do not get so stressed out if they die. I had given up on having a yellow Echinacea because the two I purchased the previous year did not come up and the two I purchased last year did not come back, then the one I planted the year before came back, I did not know till it started blooming yesterday and I was thrilled. I will try more as I find them on sale but the two companies I mentioned they always have sales and 3 inch pots.

All of mine came back as two foot clumps that are covered in buds, the orange one is actually 'Hot Paypaya' and it did nothing last year, maybe one flower but some take a year to settle in and the one I thought was dead came back the following year and that was 'Cleopatra'.

Big Grin

Hi, I have Cleopatra also. Does yours stay yellow very long? Mine is only yellow just blooming out, quickly fades to cream. Have nice clump of creamy color flowers.

Love those Cheyenne Spirit. I bought orange, red, and yellow ones last year. All of them returned this year and are so beautiful. So glad to have a reliable Echinacea from seeds with so many colors! They don't have deformed blooms like some of those other hybrids.

Nice photos everyone. I have a few flattened plants here too after a heavy rain. First time I've needed to stake Night Flyer.

Really like the Cheyenne Spirit ones too. Here is the one I got last year.

Hot Papaya is an older one that is still doing well in year 3.

This rose zinnia is growing in an earthbox in the driveway. The lime foliage plant growing in my neighbor's yard is Gold Leaf Tansy (Tanacetum vulgare 'Isla Gold').

Beautiful Susan! I have never heard of Pow Wow Pink. Where did you get it?

Pow Wow is a good seed variety. The same people who made Cheyenne Spirit do them.

The Pow Wow Pink was one I found here in town at a KAW gardens nursery that sets up a temporary place here in town every summer. It's only about 3 blocks from my house, so I get a lot of things there. So much that the manager always starts giving me free plants near the end of the season. He says I'm one of his best customers. He gave me a new Cheyenne Spirit this year that is a great dark orange. Clint, good to know they are seed grown. I also have the Pow Wow White planted close to the pink. Will have to seed if I get some seedlings.

Thanks! I will keep an eye out for them but I really do have enough pinks right now. Here is Magnus a new plant from last year. I had to steak it after the last storm it was on the ground. Crying

It's actually more of a gold color to me, it has not faded though and that is the good part! Hurray!

Cheyenne Spirit is really good if you buy the fresh seeds. If you save seeds from your own plants, it won't give the same results. They have gone through lots of effort to cross them to produce the different colors. It's amazing what they achieved with those seeds.

Park Seeds carry Cheyenne Spirit and a few other seed ones. I don't think Hot Papaya seeds are available. It is one of the newer hybrids, but so far has been doing well for 3 years in my garden.

Here is the newest Orange Cheyenne Spirit I found.

Aerial Applique is a daylily I was very disappointed in the first two years. Both years the flowers were small and bloomed low in the foliage. Glad I didn't give up on it because it's wonderful with tall scapes this year.

I have the Cheyenne mix but I was afraid they would come out one color. Has anyone grown them? I had no luck with them before. I would rather use fresh seed. I do not care if they are true. Just wanting strong healthy plants.

I found them at Territorial Seeds.
Park and Territorial both sell 15 seeds for way too much money.
Territorial sells 50 seeds for not much more than the 15.

Edited to admit that I did not do the math well! LOL
Nonetheless, I will be ordering 50 seeds.

You should get great yellows, oranges and reds with Cheyenne Spirit seeds. I was so surprised by them.
