Evan, may I rescind this request? The more I look into gingers, the more I see your dilemma. There are soooo many plants out there bearing the title "ginger" (and many of these are not only decorative but are also considered to be of culinary or medicinal use) that I am afraid I have asked the impossible of you. I was, however, recently introduced to "globbas" (yet another one of Zingiber family) - that are stunning to say the least! (OK, Semi OT but it is what made me think of this thread Smiling )

I was thinking of bringing this up in the Gingers thread. Those Globbas are stunning! The Ginger Garden also includes Kaempferia and several others (9 in total). I haven't been ignoring this but I was stymied. These tropical gingers are so diverse and I've come across some remarkable plants, time well spent!

No doubt about it - they are stunning! I did not realize in the beginning, though, how complex this issue really is (aw, sweet, naive ignorance on my part). Where can one ever really draw the line? It seems to me, also, that there would be a lot of cross-over between "ginger-type" gingers and ginger flowers. I am afraid, as I said, that I asked the impossible of you.
