Whoopee! My aristea major is blooming after waiting 5 years. The individual flower is really only the size of the flower on a. ecklonii, but that is my fault, sitting in a pot for 5 years, not being fully cared for, 'cuz it wasn't blooming anyway...lol..then this last year was hard on it and truth is, I need to fertilize everything...I'm doing that today....

Yes, Tiger Eye, that's a good one, I just planted it along the back fence. Flowering Maple (Abutilon 'Tiger Eye')

I love them all and have several. I brought a cutting of one that I don't know the name of, from my last garden. and usually the frost will take it down but it didn't last winter, it's probably 10-12 foot tall now, very large leaves and large blooms. They all seem to be pretty drought tolerant too once established. The best thing about them is that they are pretty much in constant bloom, year round just about.

Poor picture of that big one taken in early May but you get the sense of the size, the rose is 5 ft tall.

It's very interesting....the verbascum blattarias reach for the skies here, as do the linaria purpureas. I'm not sure that I like the look, they get kinda strung out-stringy looking at a certain point. This one, the one that I did not plant, came up by the front door, is just about roof height now....

Thumb of 2015-07-12/wcgypsy/376227

I picked up a gallon of romneya 2 weeks ago....scrawny looking, did not think it would last...and here it's been blooming constantly for the last two weeks, one flower after another...maybe today I can find a spot for it to go into the ground.

My friend kept telling me to take one of the brugs, I kept telling her that I have no protected spot for brugs, but here I am, with a brug that I will have to worry about come Winter....sigh..

This hydrangea seemed to be an unknown...but today I did find a hidden tag on it. It is h. macro "Todi" and that pretty much answers the question of what color the hydrangeas will go in my soil, because it supposedly would have pink flowers....

I love moth mullein. One time I gathered some seeds from in the wild but they never grew. Most of the time I'm not real keen on non-native plants in the wild, but I like moth mullein and it isn't invasive here.

I'll have to think about that. The place where I would plant it is overrun with vinca but maybe they can co-exist if I start the mullein in pots. (Getting rid of the vinca is out of the question. We have tried and tried and tried. Now Kelli and vinca must co-exist.)

I learned to love the vinca......after all, if you use it for the right purpose, it does a good job and gotta admit, it is pretty. As I recall, it also smelled good while pulling it out.........................

A lone bloom from Gaillardia Arizona Sun. I think with my area being more in part shade, the blooms get limited.
