I went to my first iris auction today. I spent $91 and I was a light weight! If you go to my plant list, you will see all the new irises I got (less my original Honorabile and Fabian), plus some lilies. I will wait to list my other new ones til y'all have had a look.

Oddly enough, the Japanese iris went for cheap. I got 3 of them for $3, $3 & $4.

There were not super old historics like I have. The swap is August 3rd. Maybe there will be some old ones there.

I am putting in other garden plants too. I have an over grown yard. Folks can enjoy my herbaceous plants as trade for something too.

I want it, too, but I would want it to look exactly like that photo, so I think I will just print off the image, laminate it, and attach it to a garden stake. Whistling Big Grin

Brilliant Debra! And to think I was actually buying the bloom and trying to grow it when all I needed was a photo printer and stakes!!! What was I thinking! Rolling my eyes.

A lengthy list from the HIPS membership forum:
the Greater Omaha Iris Society, which curates the Sass Memorial Garden, raises funds every year by digging and selling from the garden. Linda Wilke, the club president, has sent the list of irises that were dug this year. If you want to order any of these, please contact her at lrwilkie at gmail.com. There were quite a few varieties that couldn't be dug due to winter weather (and they even completely lost a couple of clumps--if anyone happens to know a good source for Joycette please drop me a line or get hold of Linda). Because they have beds with not only the irises that the Sasses introduced but also all of the Dykes Medal winners and the Hans and Jacob Sass Medal winners, shown as separate groups.
Sale is Friday, 25th, so send emails early if interested.
