We've been growing Gypsy, which are very sweet when ripe (red) but this year they are taking forever to turn. They've been yellow for over a month. It doesn't help that the critters are eating so many and if I miss one, they rot on the stem. Pretty much the same with Jimmy Nardellos. I even tried putting panty hose over the almost ripe peppers and the buggars ate right through it. And it's not like there weren't dozens of other peppers near they could have eaten. It was like snubbing their nose at me, going nanner, nanner!
I grew Blushing Beauty when I moved to GA and I was not happy with it. Mine ended up tan and I just thought the color was not appetizing at all. And they did get scald easily.
I have been growing Chinese Giants for a few years but I can't remember where I got my seed. I am also growing the Marconis, red, giant and golden. I grew the purple but they are small and pretty much a waste for me. I also got some seeds in a swap that I like, Quadrato di Rosso I think. Nice, big, blocky pepper too.
And I will add that also, Shoe is a wealth of information here as well. And I always love his taglines!
