I saw this on another thread and thought it was worth posting again for others who haven't seen it yet. I know some folks here may not be able to view it if they don't have access to PBS from their cable company. But if you do have access and haven't seen it, do check it out! It's fascinating!

This documentary makes me believe that the invasive Brazilian Pepper Trees here in FL have that underground root network where the larger BP trees help their own seedlings to flourish. Fascinating experiments that these scientists have discovered. I think I missed my calling in life! Hilarious! It also makes me appreciate fungi (mushrooms, etc) so much more now, too, for what they give to many of my other plants! Very cool!

I talk to my plants. It's nice to know that they might be actually listening!

Here's a related ATP thread about a BBC program:
The thread "Plants communicate through their root fungi" in All Things Gardening forum

From the BBC:
Title:
Fungus network 'plays role in plant communication'

"Plants can communicate the onset of an attack from aphids by making use of an underground network of fungi, researchers have found."

Rick - Interesting links you posted! Thank you!

For those who can't access the video through the link I posted above, perhaps this link will work instead?

I watched this twice over the weekend, I recommend it highly.

I miss a lot on TV and usually it's good stuff like this. Amazing research and the video quality is equally amazing.

If there really is "must see tv", this one would be in the lineup.
