LOL! Oh sure ship it back to the people I got it from and tell them to give it back when it's better LOL!!!!
But I think I will un-pot and separate them.

Well to update you all nice people out there, I did check for bugs and found nothing. I unpotted them and took them apart and put them in separate 2" pots with fresh soil. When I unpotted them, there were very few roots, why I don't know. I saw no signs of rot or insects. So now, they still haven't grown and are sitting there in their pots doing nothing. I'll keep them over winter and see what happens under lights, else I'll chuck them and get another one and start over next spring. It was just very disappointing to have something happen like this when I was looking forward to seeing those beautiful leaves.

On a better note, my Thai Giant is doing so well, it's started to flower Smiling That, I'm very happy about, I just hope I can over-winter
it well enough to survive in my front living room window, since they don't make that large storage root that regular colocasia's make, at least that's what I know. If it does someone will have to let me know, so I can let it go dormant.

Good growing everyone out there

Sorry to hear about your Nobel Gigante Kurt. Very disappointing I'm sure. The same thing is happening with my Alocasia Mayan Mask. It languished in ground and I potted it up. It had very little root growth and is still languishing.

can produce sizable tubers. Last year I grew them on with good results but not necessarily much better than In prior years when I let them go dormant. I guess the biggest difference was that I didn't loose any when growing them on, whereas I lost a few when I allowed them to go dormant. I think a key to dormant success might be waking them up early so the dormancy is not so prolonged. Bubbles pointed me to a video by Logee's which I found helpful.

Hi eclayne

I had one of those Alocasia Mayan Mask's and I just could not get it to grow at all. I think they need warmer temperatures than I get up here in Buffalo, NY. Even still it should have done reasonably well. I've grown other Alocasia and never had a problems with them.

I did watch the vid on Logee's and at least I now know they do make very large tubers or at least enlarged stems, like the other colocasia's do. But I think I'll keep it growing. I also have a little pup that it produced so I might cut that off and put it in it's own pot Smiling

Good growing eclayne

My lord, it's been a while since I remember writing this. Unfortunately the little Colocasia's 'Noble Gigante' didn't make it. They all died. No matter what I did, they just would not grow. It could have been something that was inherent in the clonal batch that I got. I see that they are still being offered, but at the price they want and the size of pot, I think that's just a little bit too much. When you see 20.00 for something in a 2.5" pot, I don't think so. So, somewhere along the line, I hope I can find a nice offset for something that a bit more affordable. I never got a response from that Florida nursery that I bought them at, so that puts a red flag up to me that, they may not be the most reliable source. My Colocasia 'Thailand' overwintered dormant just fine. I had to actually take the leaves off because they were a magnet for spidermites so off came the leaves and down in the basement it went. I'm starting to water again now, and I should see growth beginning. I don't want it growing too quickly as the weather is still cool here in April.

I was so very glad to have read and spoken to everyone here that has idea and encouragement for my little problem. OH, just one note, now we have 'MEGATHRIVE' how's that for ya.

Great growing to you all this year.
Kurt
Hurray!
