We recently obtained a new Husky puppy. We had to travel about 125 mi to get him. We turned the trip into an expedition w/ selected side trips to collect fossils and photograph wildflowers. The 125 mi turned into 204 mi (one way) but it was so enjoyable. The pup especially.
1st stop was an abandoned quarry:
Queen Anne's Lace
Blue Vervain and a sedge
Vine covering cliff face, 5 fingered, turns red in fall, name slips my mind
Sumac
example of fossils thereat
Next stopover was a state park by Macomb, Il. - coneflowers
Rest area along the river, just south of Nauvoo
American Bellflower
Lookout point between Hamilton and Warsaw along the river
Ditchlily
Loosestrife along the river (pics taken from vehicle along the Great River Road)
Sunset over the river
