I've seen quite a few, though these two are the largest I've seen. These are between CC and Brookings...Banana Belt....The last time I had one was in Contra Costa years ago.

The Urge for Seeds is Strong in This One.....
I have a T. urvilleana now, but it dies down to the ground as soon as the frost hits it. It grows back every year, but it only gets to be about 6 feet tall. Usually it doesn't have a chance to bloom before the frost cuts it down again. I haven't had a big Tibouchina since I left Piedment, which was zone 10a.
These two particular ones are growing the equivalent of a half block from the ocean. I'll have to make the rounds of CC and see what we have going here, we're a bit colder than the area where these two are. I did see another almost the size of these two about a block away from them. The ones I've seen here in town so far are smaller...

My guess on that last pic would be a cantua, but I've not grown cantua before and I'm just guessing from pics I've seen of cantua...anyone know what that lovely thing is?
