Hmmm -- I got a C-mail from Star about the Piggy Swap back in October or so... I assumed it went to all members of her cubit. Shrug!

Well, just looked back and it actually came from Terese (one of the Ella's Garden moderators):

"~~ This message is to ALL Ella's Garden Members ~~

It's that time of year again - the annual Seed Swap

Many of you have sign-up already, good to see you all again...
so you can just keep this as a reference if you'd like.... For the rest, this is your friendly reminder that the Swap is quickly approaching.

IF you are not planning on joining in on the fun this year, do let us know - either on the thread or by C-Mail [you can contact either Ella, Terese or Lea] That way we have a head count.

The swap will begin on Nov. 14th @ 9:00 A.M. EST
the swap will end at midnight on Dec. 12th."

Still sorting and researching my piggy seeds, but I have managed to get 17 species sown so far! Hurray!

They're all exciting to me, but here are some of the newest (to me) varieties in that list-

Astrantia major
Codonopsis pilosula
Gentiana alba
Gentiana tibetica
Onosma taurica
Rhexia virginica
Scutellaria sevanensis
Sidalcea malviflora 'Elsie Heugh'
Succisa pratensis
Tricyrtis hirta
Verbesina virginica

...and many more delicious tidbits, just waiting on me to get them started! Big Grin

Love, love this swap! Lovey dubby It's not just about all the great seeds...it's the people in it that make it great!

Sandy, thanks for reminding me. I had forgotten. Ella DOES send out Cmail reminders, but only if you join her cubit "Ella's garden".

http://cubits.org/ellasgarden/

Both the "Seed Trading" and "Cottage Gardening" forums are part of the Cubit "Ella's garden". I think the ongoing Chat threads are in Cottage gardening, but the Piggy Swap "oink threads" themselves are in the Seed Trading forum.

Both are free to join. You might have to check Cubits occasionally to read your mail, but I get regular email notices when I have a waiting Cmail ... probably I checked a box in my profile for that to happen.

If you check out the Chat thread between Swaps, you get to know the people and who-has-what. Also they get to know you. I think many of us use that to enable our own seed-aholism. "I don't really NEED these seeds ... but I'm ordering from that site anyway and I know Toni would love some of these next November ..."

It's a great group of people, also great for asking "Hey, does anyone have XYZ or know where I can find it?" Sometimes someone sends you something, or sometimes a couple of people decide to split a packet in-between swaps.

BTW, Ella is Starlight1153, or vice-versa.
