I get these on my tomato plants and a few others all the times. They leave little white dots on the fruit and it becomes soft from the inside out. Troublesome little things!

I love the contrast. Yes, I wonder what kind of bug this is too. Their red color makes them seem fierce.

Looks like an Assassin Bug nymph, a beneficial garden insect.

Leaf-footed bug nymphs look similar to the Assassin Bug nymph.... but the Leaf-footed Bug will "munch" on tomatoes where the assassin bug does not.
