Yes.
RED tags mean it'll be torn down.
Yellow means you can't stay there until it's fixed but you can come get your stuff.

Mary, if you can't find 20-20-20, just look for any "balanced" fertilizer -- 10-10-10 is always on sale at our local feed store (usually called "triple 10"). Even better, or in combination with the chemical fertilizer, is some good compost !

I had a great day today -- our temp finally went into the low 70s and I was able to spend most of the day outside, marking out my garden for planting, marking where to plant some hazelnut bushes and cherry trees (DH can do the digging for those!), and doing some general cleanup that never got done last fall -- LOTS more of that to do, the fall was so wet that it was impossible to work outside. I'm SO out of shape for gardening -- feels great to have my muscles complaining about it again!! Hurray!

My goodness. Never heard about that one.

I planted my onion seedlings in the greenhouses kind of around the broccolli to see what it does. When it is getting bigger the brocs will be gone. Will also put some in the large (3' across) pots sunk in the garden with romaine.

Back to the original post's thread - garlic. For those of you who placed a pre-harvest garlic order, and those with interest, here's an update.

I just dug up and hung for curing three varieties of hardneck garlic. It is somewhat hard to judge the weight of the bulbs since all the tops are still there, but my guess would be 15-20 lbs. of garlic will be ready to go out in a couple of weeks. I have another 75-100 bulbs (8-10 lb.?) of two of the varieties I dug up that are still in the ground. I will leave them for a week, dig them up, and see if there was any advantage in leaving them for that additional time. I haven't yet dug up any of the softneck or Creole garlic. Perhaps next week or the following week will be the time for that. Everything is on schedule and the garlic (so far) looks good.

It was very small, compared to Alaska and California.
I was sitting on a bed with a couple other teenagers and I thought someone was shaking the bed.

The New Madrid Fault is nothing to sneeze at though. It created Reelfoot Lake in 18something - Backed up the Mississippi River for a moment or 2!! It does NOT relieve its pressure a little at a time. If it goes, it may very well GO!

No problem at all. I just had that update. The New Madrid fault will break loose one day and according to the experts, there will be hell to pay.

Mary Stella, some will tell me they will eat a bit of it and then keep the rest to grow. Most of them have actually never tasted heirloom, gourmet garlic. Once they taste it, they are done. They contact me in again in September (generally garlic is planted in October or November), asking if I have any more. They have eaten it all. I never do. Perhaps I will have some this year for planting season. The vast majority that I sell to want it for eating/cooking. Last year was a terrible year (for me) growing garlic. Garlic fills out best when the last month before harvest is hot and dry. Last year we had a cool, wet spring. My harvest came in at 60% the weight I had hoped for. I ended up limiting the early buyers to 2 lbs. and refunding those who came to the table late. I have already had an order placed for 8 lbs. from an individual that says he and his wife use garlic almost every day! How about that. Yes, they are Italians! They got 2 lbs. last year. I am still taking pre-harvest orders, though I already have begun the harvest.

I am no better. I always say: "OK, I will put back enough to not only eat throughout the year but also to plant in the fall. I always end up buying garlic to plant! LOL This year, I really, really plan on putting back 5-6 lbs. to eat and that much more to plant. I hope I have enough to meet my needs. We have just opened the last 1/4 lb. bag of Creole garlic. We should run out about the time the first batch of hardneck has cured, in two weeks. The Creole has lasted 12 months!

I am looking around for bulbs to buy in Australia. This was interesting, Ken. I always worry about sites that could be tall stories.

"1859 Lighthouse Keepers garlic* (*patent pending) - this is a species of Giant Russian Garlic

2 BULBS $30 SOLD OUT

This garlic variety was located by me growing wild beside one of Australia’s most famous coastal lighthouses (secret location) in 2005. I managed to propagate some over the last few years and I now offer a limited amount for sale. This garlic was planted by the lighthouse keeper some time around 1859. This grows BIG, has beautiful flowers and has a mild nutty flavour. Good to eat, easy to grow and beautiful in the garden. "

I like it, Glen. How interesting (and how expensive). I would love to find that variety. I have never seen it listed for sale and have a feeling it is impossible to find. I wonder if there are postal restrictions shipping garlic to/from Australia?

I have one Russian variety, and it is of course a hardneck. It is the Maiskij. Don't ask me how one pronounces it. *Blush* My other two varieties are Asiatic, the Shilla and the Sonoran.
