Debra - re: the repair of broken ceramics with gold and silver. Years ago I attended a seminar with
Paul Soldner, now passed, but an icon among American potters. He repaired a large pot with a line of
gold dust - whatever fine sign makers use - mixed with an adhesive, and made the beautiful pot even
more beautiful.

Yes, it is more beautiful to my eyes with the tracing than it would have been when whole. I envy you the in-person experience.

It's just the way my odd life went, Debra. Years of graduate school in English Lit. (wanted to teach at the college level). Had my fourth child, sixteen years after the third, and stayed home with him, making
pottery (it was my hobby) and it became my profession. Still doing it many years later. Glad to have met some of the greats.

I have a beautiful bowl that was broken accidentally right after I bought it. I kept the pieces because I just didn't have the heart to throw it away. It was large and rather expensive, meant to be a display piece. If I can only remember where I put them ...maybe someday I could find someone to repair it that way!!!
