Any chance you know the name of this Achimenes?

Unfortunately, I don't know. I bought it at a little backyard nursery where nothing was labeled. Sadly it was one of the pots of Achimenes that got shoved in a corner over winter and forgotten until really late the next summer. The poor things apparently tried to sprout but gave up and died without sun or water. Boy, did I feel dumb! They are so easy to grow and overwinter that I was beginning to think that it was impossible to kill an Achimenes, but then I found a way!

Whatever variety it was, it had a really nice periwinkle coloration, larger flowers than my others, and started blooming around mid-summer.

It reminded me of the one that I grow - photo. Unfortunately I don't know the name here either, but it's a larger bloom than most. I call it the 'blue' one because it definitely trends toward the blue spectrum. I don't think they are exactly the same, maybe, but it did strike me as similar. Yours might never have had a name anyway. Park Seed used to sell an Achimenes 'mix' of various colors. They also used to offer them by color rather name. You could get white, blue, red and pink, I think. That's been a long time ago now, but at the time Park Seed was widely used as a plant source. Mine came with a name and I still have that purchase list, but can't make it match.

I don't think they are exactly the same either. Yours seems to have a somewhat more erect growth habit than mine did.

I don't have any wish to sell, but I do give them away from time to time. I also rooted a few and didn't leave them out to get frozen. I probably need to work at getting them secured for the rest of the winter. They weren't quite completely dormant when I brought them inside and I haven't checked on them since.
