Those sure don't look the same though! Please keep me updated Linda! The plant that I have called lemon ball is a mexicanum, so it is a totally different plant from the rupestres but mine does look like your "lemon belle" which I notice on the label it just says 'stonecrop' (which unfortunately all of these plants are considered 'stonecrop' )
I tip my hat to you.

Greg, this has been such a mess trying to straighten out. Some of them are the same plants that have been given different cultivar names. Some are said to be rupestre, others are given the species name of mexicanum. I think the only way to straighten out the mess is to grow all of them in the same conditions and see what the differences are.
Is your winter hardy?

I grew what was labeled as Lemon Ball and Lemon Curl side by side last summer. They were the same plant and both died over winter but I saved pieces in the green house so still have some. .

According to Plant Delights it should be winter hardy for us. http://www.plantdelights.com/S...

All the different ones I've grown have been winter hardy, but I may not have the S. mexicanum one?

Mine are in very large containers so that may be the problem.

in winter of 2013 mine died back but some roots remained (I may have received this plant from you Julia!!) Anyway, this winter I have it indoors, ready to go back outside at any time now!! For my zone I'd say this plant is marginal - it depends how many freeze nights we have! Thumbs up
