How do you "send tree-mails to multiple recipients"?

I'm not Dave, but I can answer this one

When you go to create a t-mail, and enter the first name, you just add a comma and then the next name.

I had no idea how this was done!

When I start typing the screen name I want to send it to, ATP suggests names for me. When I select the name I want from the list, it automatically supplies the comma

Yes, & let's say you have a plant or seeds of a plant that you saw 5 other people had on their want list and you had enough surplus to provide 5 people with. Then instead of tree-mailing each person individually to notify them you can fulfill their wish you could just create a group tree-mail using each of the hopeful recipients screen names. Saves a lot of time!

Thanks! I had the same question, since I want to continue to do Mid-Atlantic info "blasts" here (for example, there will soon be a tree mail going out to the MAG folks who participate in the local group buys we do).

That's easier than doing a "blast" list, and hopefully I can copy/paste the recipient list for future use.

So, I used this feature and discovered it works a little differently than a Dmail "blast" at Dave's Garden.

Whenever somebody responds to your multiple-recipient tree-mail, EVERYBODY sees the response. For some purposes, that might be a good thing. But this spring when I send a notice out to a hundred people to be sure Mid-Atlantic gardeners know about the spring plant swap... well, all those people do not need to see every "sorry I can't make it" or "do you realize I am 4 hours away" response... they don't even want to read the "I'll be there; can't wait" responses... those who are coming will connect up on the discussion thread.

Nope, sorry.

The feature is the same as a "group email" with a "group reply to all" response. It can't function differently.
This feature was meant to replace private forums, if people wanted a private chatting place for off-topic sensitive topics on ATP.

I know some people note in their group treemail to please respond individually to the sender.

I'll add that this question has come up from time to time. Occasionally members who receive such a treemail do not want it, and as replies continue to add up they continue to get annoyed with this tree mail popping up again and again on their homepage.

I have plans to allow recipients of group tree-mails to withdraw themselves from a treemail. I also want to let the sender have the power to "lock" the tree mail so that nobody can reply to it (except for the sender.)

Locking would work great for the way I'd like to use the feature to send out announcements to our MAG forum folks from time to time. Meanwhile, I'll use Trish's suggestion of adding a note to please not respond to this tree-mail.

I can definitely see the utility of the feature in doing private or sidebar chats.

I've been lurking more than posting on ATP forums since the beginning, while trying to have one foot here and one foot in DG. Now that our Mid-Atlantic group has essentially moved here in its entirety, I'm learning to use various features that I didn't need before... @dave and @trish, I appreciate your patience with my questions and comments as I dig further into ATP!
