Everyone is so quiet here on ATP. I joined the brug group on FB, boy is it booming. Lots of activity there. I still like it here. I have already made friends there.

Great blooms Dan. I think I may be getting the bug again. The greenhouse has way more brugs than I intended to keep and there are seedpods everywhere.

Yes Doris, there is a FB brug group. I think Brenda sent me a link to it and I joined it. It is very active. I don't stay on FB that much though.

I could use some more Inspiration pollen. I used the pollen you sent and have set Inspiration seedpods on everything in the greenhouse EXCEPT Jinny Lind. Jinny has set pods from App Melody, Karoline, Shooting Star and a couple of others but not from Inspiration so far. Isn,t that the way it always goes. For those of you who don't know, we especially wanted pods from an Inspiration/Jinny Lind cross to possibly enhance the lavender hue present in both of those. And yes, it does take a little imagination to see the lavender Rolling on the floor laughing

I agree with Donna.............it is really busy on FB and while I have formed a few friendships, I don't know most of the people who chat about brugs there. This is a much more intimate group here! Glad I found my way back here, even if I had to sign up with a new user name!!! Hurray!

This Tiara................one of my favorites!! She has an incredibly strong lemony sweet scent!

Thanks Brenda for the compliments on my Aurea hybrids, but actually, most of the credit has to go to JT. Why ? Because I have been using his El Dorado as the basis for most of my crosses. El Dorado is the most fertile brug that I have had, it both sets pods easily, and is also a fantastic pollen parent. The flowers alone are fantastic, the fragrance knocks your shoes off, and it is very pest resistant. Couldn't ask for more from any plant !!! Here it is this past summer in full bloom. Yes, that is just one plant, loaded with the best smelling flowers you could ask for, and, that's after it was chopped up a bit for cuttings. In my opinion, it really deserved the Brug of the year " award it got on BGI 2 years ago. If I could only have one brug, this is it Thumbs up I tip my hat to you.
Dan

Hello Brenda good to see you here, I like this better than Facebook.

SON, where are you, been too long away from here. My brug start you sent me is not making it, I have no idea why, although it is not soft it lost all the leaves and now the outer bark is loose, it is the one with the long name I cannot pronounce Whistling Hers===LOL

Hi JT and all! I am just getting back into a brug induced obsession myself. I have 8 new plants, 8 cuttings, approx 50 seeds from 4 crosses planted and 7 plants coming from Mark Bailey (Morning Dew Nursery). I have one pkg of one of your crosses JT from BGI. They are Velvet Rose x (Jinny Lind x NOL). I jumped in with both feet. Lol. The bug has bitten! Smiling

Doris Klene, someone on another thread had used peroxide and saved a sick brug some time back. If you are sure your cutting is on it's last leg anyway, what have you got to lose? I am terrible with remembering names, but the lady had a brug that had a bad place on the trunk and it was getting in bad shape. She poured peroxide on the place, then poured some in the soil around the trunk. Next morning she watered it. It got ok. She said she also healed a dying clematis that the drain hole had got clogged and it was standing in water when she discovered it and was beginning to get root rot. She unclogged the pot and poured peroxide in the pot. It fizzed, but next day the soured smell was gone from the soil in the pot and he plant lived. Sounded like a miracle to me, but I filed that cure away in my brain.
