Jean, I am sure you would love your quilted fenceline Hurray! Let us know if go ahead and make them.

One of my friends that inspired me have a collection of 4 along the side of a large storage building. She did all hers in the same color scheme. Each was red, white and blue but a different block.

After much online browsing I still don't know what product to use, or where to get it. Shrug! "Sign board", or "signboard" hasn't netted positive results...help?

Is it concrete board? That seems like it might be a bit heavy...

Chelle, I am not sure what it is made up of. A type of composite board. It is all white in sheets that are the size of sheet rock. 8x4. It is lighter than plywood. I bought mine at a local sign shop. It was almost $90 for one sheet Angry

I was told it works well in the outdoors. I hope this helps.

Thanks Teresa! Even a ballpark price can help to narrow it down locally.

Also look for a product called Coroplast (from the words 'corrugated' and 'plastic'). Made of fluted polypropylene. Some Home Depot stores carry the 5/32" (4 mm) thickness.

Hi, Greene, what have you been using yours for? I may ck at our local Home Depot. I would like to find a place that had a more cost effective price. I think I would like to make a couple for gifts.

Hmmm Shrug! What could be more cost effective than $13.46? This size piece would made 2 squares, each 3 feet by 3 feet in size.

Shrug! http://www.homedepot.com/p/COR...

That's pretty cost effective material, Greene. Thumbs up I'd have to frame my edges with duct tape or something similar though; I'd be afraid the wasps would like it otherwise.

Interesting stuff. Reminds me of the material used for political yard signs. They don't carry it at our local HD, unfortunately.

Yes, it is exactly the same stuff. Thumbs up Is there a chance that your local HD could order some for you?

That is a possibility. And if it truly is the same stuff as political yard signs, Chelle, you have nothing to worry about with wasps setting up housekeeping! (We did have a couple of those yard signs and the wasps didn't come anywhere near.)

Political yard signs are made from a cardboard type material, at least the ones around here are. But more permanent signs for businesses are made from that material. I have one here it is for the Garden Club yearly flower sale. My dog groomer also uses the same material for the signs that she put up around the area.

Just after election time (at least here in my city) there are time limits for the political signs to be removed from the roadside. Some campaign workers just pull up the signs and leave them on the ground. At that point they become 'trash' and I figure they are available for re-use.

I do that actually Greene. Thumbs up I make signs for local plant sales for end streets and art on them. I'm happy you brought that into the conversation. "Its a good thing";.............don't you agree Martha? Hilarious!

I had dinner at a friend's house with Martha before she was fully famous. She brought a pie. It was a Mrs Smith's frozen pie that she had decorated. Whistling

What?????? No full bottles of already uncorked wine? Gotta love that gal Greene. she was never a fool and was the Queen of logical safe recycling. Its rediculous to through away as many thongs as we do, and Martha has aways had a talent for re'using safe items well......................It made Her a Star. Sometimes when I go to bed at 8:00pm and wake up at 3:30 and start painting on a project or whatever project, I think of Martha. I heard a story about her written years ago, and before she got started on her fame roll. As I remember it;....A neighbor said they saw her out working in her gardens at 4:00 in the morning in spotlights and how odd.

I Think that is why Martha became Martha. I know she now has all the help in the world now;... but the girl got there because she worked at it in person for a while. If I were as wealthy as Martha I would need help with all the ideas I come up with and try to do too!...........and could afford to do them. Shes a lucky gal and I'll bet that pie was pretty!!! Rolling on the floor laughing

That was a fun story Greene. I wish I had been there! I tip my hat to you.

Rolling on the floor laughing Greene. We get those signs whenever we can. The 'parties' love it (especially if they lose) when we call and ask for them. The big ones get used for lining the bottom half of green houses, I've used them for extra insulation in the well house and in the chicken coops. I like the 2x3 kind to form a barrier when I'm spraying weeds. They don't get wet and soggy like cardboard. I also use them for signs at the craft shows. Now I'll have to keep my eye out for the real big ones for these quilts.

Or you could 'find' 9 smaller signs and make a Nine Patch design. Rolling on the floor laughing
