I for some reason have never even thought about bringing in my Amaryllis and trying to force them at this time of year. I just leave mine out in the garden, and let them bloom later in the year.

All mine are pass-a-longs, so I have no idea what they are. I hope to have some bloom this year that I started from seed two years ago, I am keeping my fingers crossed. Started more from seed this year and last year.

Larry, those in your photo are beautiful and they sure look like Amaryllis (Hippeastrum 'Minerva')

Larry - I have mine growing in the ground too! Some of mine look the same as the blooms on yours. (Walmart is where I got mine on clearance at the end of the season a couple years ago. I have the red & white and the solid red blooming amaryllis. I love them!)

There is a homeowner about 1/2 mile from me that has this huge foliage growth year round on 20+ light pink blooming amaryllis. You should see the blooms in Spring! It is stunning! They have all the bulbs planted outlining an oval flower bed that is just loaded with the perfect balance of plants. Theirs blooms again during the summer! I am going to stop and take a photo one day! It's a young couple and they seem to have a remarkable green-thumb and a keen eye for garden design.

@Seedfork, Larry I see you live in zone 8. Do you have cold/freezing winter weather? If so, how do you keep them safe during the winter, and how deep are they planted?

I am in zone 8b, and we do have freezing weather. This year (I hate to use the word unusual) because it seems like every year is unusual, we had 17 deg. F. in early November. We had 18 deg.F.
a few days ago followed by several days below freezing. It is normal to have a few weeks in the winter where we get freezing temps, but they are "normally" short spells and the temps. normally rise pretty fast during the day. The polar Vortex was very "unusual" I lost a lot of plants that year, but did not notice any Amaryllis that died and many had just been transplanted recently.
My plants are planted a little deeper I think than the normal recommendations, I do bury the entire bulb below soil level. The oak trees in my yard provide natural mulch for many of my plants, I use pine straw and leaves I collect around the neighborhood also, but no conscious effort to particularly protect the Amaryllis. I mulch mostly to build up the soil, but it has the side benefits of helping to keep the plants warm too. Of course this year may be "unusual" and I may lose a lot of my Amaryllis due to the early freeze. The polar Vortex really cost me heavily on Caladiums, and Gladiolus plants, but it could be a repeat this year or maybe not for the next ten years, just never know.
Some years mine bloom in March, last year it was April.
This one would not be liked by many because it was so short , but I loved seeing the blooms almost as large as the plants:

I think I need to move mine to an area that will receive more sun.

You know I don't think sun is all that important to some Amaryllis (can't say for all). My mother grew some for years that just bloomed like crazy. They were mixed in among much larger plants and the house and a brick wall also blocked the sun from the plants. Still, when I transplanted some earlier last year I moved some of them to more sun. Most of the ones I have are in pretty much shade areas, and they seem to do fine. I just felt more sun would be worth trying to try and get them to multiply faster.

I have had these two in the ground for at least 4 years. Leave growth starts in the spring, but they never bloom. No sign of blooms stalks or buds.

I pretty much neglect mine as far as fertilizer, they just seem to need very little care here. But I do have tons or organic matter in the soil, other than that and water I really don't have much advice I am afraid.

They suggest maybe the soil is too rich? Too much shade? I suppose the amount of shade could be dependent on the intensity of the sun, down here sun may be much more intense? Don't know.

I had some bulbs planted under big leafed Canna Lilies which shaded the Amaryllis from April on. For 5 years, the Amaryllis wouldn't bloom and looked miserable. In desperation, I moved the Amaryllis to their own bed in full afternoon sum. It took 2 years for them to recover, but now they bloom. Other "spring" bulbs, such as tulips or daffodils can be interplanted with perennials, since they die back before the companion plants shade the foliage. Amaryllis foliage needs good sunlight all summer. So in cases of poor blooming, I always advise increasing the sunlight and getting them away from root competition for moisture.

I grow mine with daylilies in a raised bed. They grow in the corners of a square bed as well as placed strategically in the middle of each side of the bed. All the daylilies are planted in the other areas of the bed. I turned the amaryllis bulbs so the long leaves don't fall on top of any of my daylily plants. As soon as the amaryllis stop blooming, the daylilies start! It's a continuous show every Spring!
