Both of those are beautiful. Being dormants, what is the likelihood of them surviving zone 10a? Confused Glare

Becky, just enjoy that there are beautiful evergreens out there. I know dormants can really outshine some of the EV, but wasting money on plants that you surmise will not thrive is no fun. Sad

Arlene - I totally agree with you concerning our zones.

I do have some dormant daylilies that I got this year for very inexpensive .... so I am hoping they are not hard dormants so I don't lose them, but I plan to use them in my hybridizing program this year when they bloom .... just in case.

Becky, I think your strategy regarding inexpensive daylilies is a good one. There really is no way to determine with any degree of certainty whether a dormant is going to make it in the South or an evergreen in the north. For sure, I'm not going to order an evergreen that was released by a southern hybridizer in 2015 (or one that will be in spring 2016) because of the expense.
