Do you find the rockery Campanulas to be invasive Kate. Or do you keep them confined? I love them and have a few different ones.
I love my creeping Wooly Thyme. Nothing seems to bother it and it will grow over the top of a pot and down several fee to the ground in a dense wall of soft, fuzzy leaves.

I haven't seen the rockery Campanulas become invasive. They have the run of whatever bed they are in and have never intruded into other areas of the bed. Wooly creeping thyme always makes me think it would be fun to roll naked in (but not when it's blooming - too many pollinators).

Great plants Kate. I am really in love the the small leaved campanulas.
My Saxifraga 'Whitehill' is really doing well even in the drought conditions of this month.

I just picked up a little campanula, thinking it'll go well with the other little campanula I've had for years.

Guess what? It ended up being the same variety! Capanula rotundifolia. Although the flowers don't seem as blue. Oh well, at least I know it's hardy here.

I don't think this is an alpine plant, but I figured I'd ask here since it's not a semp or sedum:
Has anyone grown armeria juniperifolia in a trough in a cold climate? I picked up three for a $1 each along with armeria maritima 'Rubrifolia'.

Hurray! Tabby I love the armeria. They are hardy to zones 3 and 4 depending on the variety and seems to thrive in the same conditions as the semps.
I have three different kinds. The thread "Companion plants for hardy succulents" in Sempervivum forum

I have taken it through one winter now and it is doing well. It really needs fast draining soil in our rainy season.

Spent the day playing out in one of the semp beds, where I planted some alpine type plants last growing season. Looks like all of them came through this really wet winter, with no snow cover and lots of freezing and thawing. I was surprise to see that none of them heaved out of the ground.

Androsace sarmentosa --- Looks like it is growing a bunch of little rosettes from the crown. Can't wait to see this one bloom this year.

Delosperma davyi - I was really surprised to see this one still alive, I think all the gravel/chicken grit I put down last fall made a big difference.

Gentiana dinarica 'Montenegro' ---- This Gentiana has the most amazing blue flowers. Hope it blooms for me this year so I can get a good photo of the flower.

Leontopodium 'Mt. Everest' is coming out of dormancy. It made it, it's alive. Hurray! Hurray!

Androsace sarmentosa is a sweet little plant! Looks like it going gang busters already!

Does Delosperma davyi stay that color all year? Very unusual and pretty. Thumbs up

I can't wait to see the mass pink flowers A. sarmentos gets. Maybe Kate can post a photo of hers in bloom. Not sure when mine will bloom. Smiling

Here you go Chris, Delosperma davyi Ice Plant (Delosperma davyi)
The weather causes it to change color. I just love this plant.

The winter color doesn't stand out from the surrounding soil, makes it hard to see at first. The tiny daisy like flowers are adorable and make a nice contrast with the red spring leaf color.
I am having so much fun trying new alpine type plants.
