Could be, you mentioned that earlier when I'd posted the pics of the ones on the way to Brookings..I'm of the opinion that all plants with view of the street should be labeled....lol...so I don't have to knock on the doors to find out. There are some grasses around here that I would like to know about....
I could be wrong...

Well, there are so many different grasses and there are some I've seen here and I really don't want to lurk around these peoples' houses waiting to catch them outside. I'd posted a pic from the neighborhood of a shrub unknown to me that turned out to be a brug and Rebecca wanted me to go beg a cutting from them......um......no. I may not even want to know these people, I'm not going to go after a cutting and feel owing to them forever. As I'm planting the front border, there are people who walk the street daily and I see that they've gradually drifted over to my side of the street and they look at plants as they go by.......now, if that were me, I'd be wondering, "What is that?"....so, I'm actually thinking that I may label the plants...printed large enough to not encourage them to wander in, of course....

My big toubichina's are about 5 ft. from a fence & once they got to be about 6', I didn't have issues with frost damage. Good to know that I can grow them at the new house - had already decided to plant them against a south facing wall - might be the purple wall w/ toubichina & hardenburgia (& brugs, so not all purple). It's so helpful to come from a community with a large deer population, so I know which plants have a chance of growing despite the deer.

We do have deer here, but I just plant the deer resistant plants, they say they have gophers here, but coming from gopher central, these people do not know what gopher infestations really are...halleluja, there are no rabbits.

That cucumber vine is new here in the past few years. It has been climbing tall trees and it is beautiful but then it dies (or goes dormant?) and it looks brown and awful for months. We have been pulling it out which is easy except for having to crawl under shrubs to grab the roots, which go underground for a long way. We couldn't find the ends- they easily break off. Is this on an invasive list? I don't know the botanical name to find it. Min3

Just FYI, the southern California species is Marah macrocarpus. It is also called Cucamonga manroot because it forms a huge perennial root. Digging up the root is probably a better way to get rid of it than pulling the shoots.

Thanks...I did only a brief search on it. I'd never seen it before until it popped up on our Fallbrook property, climbing a pine tree. Now I've found that it likes our property here also and I have to be vigilant in not letting it go, which is kinda hard because at our property line there begins overgrown wild stuff and it's for sure liking it in there....

Hey Kelli, I didn't know that is "arroyo lupine", but I did remember seeing it at some local nursery: plants in pots with only the "fan leaves" w/o flowers (why I passed it?) Now their blooms look fantastic as my always reacting to the blue/violet flowers (e.g., Orchid Vanda, AV). But I didn't know until you show the pic. Is it possible to grow them in pot and have bloom? Thanks
If a plant looks good, smells good, don't eat it, grow it!
