Yes, definitely wanted to jump up and down! But mostly....wanted to shout "Nobody is here to take this photo!" Actually, nobody else was even around to see it. I saw a Monarch last week in San Antonio. BTW, I had put the feeder away...until I heard that distinctive sound and saw a hummingbird that first day they showed up. THEN I put the feeder back out! But I still had some nectar plants blooming...just less than I would have had last month.
I would feel more optimistic about a bright future for man if he spent less time proving that he can outwit Nature and more time tasting her sweetness and respecting her seniority. E. B.White

I hope it's one of "mine" you're feeding, Linda. They do know how to get your attention. Little smarties. Hilarious!

Charleen, Mexico is one of the winter destinations...others go further south into Central America. There's even kinds that winter in California, I hear! And some have said certain warmer parts of Texas can have winter hummingbirds.

Well, I'd like to be added!
Back to the hummingbirds, they're still here and I have a pic.

Thumb of 2011-11-29/LindaTX8/83e123

I checked around and a few other people in the greater San Antonio area are seeing hummingbirds also. One person reported that someone in a shop selling bird supplies in Boerne told him that some Rufous hummingbirds had started wintering in that area in recent years. Don't know what kind I have, but that is interesting!

I have a facebook friend that lived in AZ, he said last year he was tromping through the snow every few hours to replace nectar in his feeder when it froze for hummers that had gotten trapped. He showed a picture of them.
