You've got buds! Hurray! Yep, those are baby bloom stalks. The foliage looks like damage I've seen on gladiola foliage. I think a sap sucking insect is the culprit. Thrips maybe?

Really!! Woohoo! I got buds! Thanks Neal! Oh I do not know what is damaging the leaves..I see white somethings flying in and out, so I have one of my carnivores parked inside the container to hopefully feast on them. At first I thought it might be some cold damage that happened last December when we have several days of low 30's and heavy rain.

@tarev I grow freesias in a pot, in my greenhouse. They look like yours right now, budding. After they are finished I just leave them in the GH and they die back. This is my third year for them. I bought them as bulbs. They have multiplied so I will probably repot the little ones after the others finish blooming.

Thanks Rob! Had to spray neem oil..aphids on attack mode Angry

I have some dutch iris too, experimenting on a few last year and it managed to give a bloom just when I was about to give up. Got some leaves this time as well, will see if it can make it again.

I'm being attacked by aphids right now too! To get rid of them, I mix some dish soap and water in a spray bottle. I'll stop spraying when the lady bugs and other good insects move in.

I understand your Freesias are hybrids. They have a nice scent, but not as strong as the sp. Freesias have. If you want to compare, you can let a few of your blooms go to seed and sow them (they are quite easy). The resulting plants will revert to the species (smaller plant, a bit smaller flower, and a scent you can notice from farther than the hyb.). The flowers will all be creamish white with some yellow.

That is nice to know, will see if I have the guts to do seed level, usually am not ever good at that.

So nice clear blue skies, cool temps, really nice to see the sun after several overcast and rainy days!

It finally made one good bloom so far..been topsy turvy, but nice cool mornings for a change. The fragrant scent such a delight always! I hope the rest of the buds will make it too! Comparing it to my last year's photo, not as pretty, but am glad it fought very well to stay alive and bloom.
