hugelkultur definitely looks like something do-able for us! I'm very excited to share this with my husband. We have a forest full of tree debree, from limbs to fallen trees, some old some new. Of course hubby's been waiting to find a tractor in order to clean up the heavy logs. but most of it has been untouched for so many years. What we have been doing is slowly gathering, dragging logs by pulling with the truck and then making a hole to burn them in, or wood for winter fires. I hope he is inspired by this idea as much as I am... LOL because the labor of getting the logs together will be his!
Forest matter is the best. I've been using the leaf matter to fill my pots, about 3/4th's of he way, then add potting soil on the top. All of the plants seem to love it! And it's an excellent mulch too.
