It is 30F today with snow left over from yesterday about 2". Covering everything.

For the first year we have a pair of large bluebirds nesting in the top of our black pine. It is only about 8-9' tall but where they picked you would never notice them. I only did because one was picking up nesting stuff and then flew to the pine. They really let me have it when I get near. We don't have a cat and it would be a tough climb anyway to get to the nest.

Mary, that's not nice of Mother Nature to give you more snow, I hope this is the last for the year. It's 60 degrees here and sunny, but they say colder tomorrow and we could have snow showers. Thumbs down

That's cool about the bluebird nest. Thumbs up

Good grief, I looked up and out the window a few minutes ago and it was pouring rain/snow mixed -- then turned to snow -- and 20 minutes or so later the sun came out... the temp is 41F and there doesn't seem to even be any snow on the ground, but still!!

Glare

Now that I think about it, though -- that kind of IS a sign of spring in the UP Rolling on the floor laughing

I put out some pots (5 gal) with my peony roots from last year. I thought maybe the garage was too warm for them. So of course it dropped to 20F last night. Their little leaves were frozen. But they are tough. Reem says they can withstand snow even. Snow doesn't seem as bad as frost. I guess we will see. My WS poppies have just started to germinate. Seems like the double Shirley's are always the first.

Our wren has been back for about a week now, but he's dealing with sleet this evening. Rolling my eyes.

I finally have some asparagus beginning to come up, and a LOT of (volunteer) dill... definitely a plant that you never have to buy again once you have it, at least not if you're like me and less than obsessive about keeping things deadheaded Whistling

I'm forever learning anew about how to interpret our weather forecaster's predictions. A "frost warning" means we'll freeze, a "low of 38" means we'll frost, and "a low of 41" means check areas where frost pockets form. I can't wait for the "low of 50" temps to begin settling in, but I'll still need to remember that that's really only about 40 degrees...still not warm enough for some things to go outside, even though the "high of 80" will most likely be right on target! Rolling on the floor laughing

Yeah, I'm over it. Hilarious! The frosty weather needs to move right along and "exit stage left!"

We're just the opposite here, Chelle -- for whatever reason, the temp in our yard is almost always at least a few degrees higher than the predicted one; of course, every now and then it's lower here than predicted -- those are the ones that can really get you Blinking
