Oh, do I ever know that feeling! Been there, done that. Scare each other half to death sometimes. Hilarious!

I was so happy to see Mz. Annie this morning nodding Have been missing her since hurricane Michael. The air was still, but I heard the windchime on the patio Confused looked out the open sliding glass door and there she was...coming off the roof and onto the chime. I gave her a pat and then a nudge so she'd move on and not join me inside Hilarious! Hilarious! Annie had other ideas and went back up on the roof. She finally came back down and with another pat and nudge went off across the back yard. Thankfully Dixie slept through it all.

While driving through my very woodsy neighborhood we came across a black snake stretched across the blacktop warming itself. It didn't want to move and my husband was threatening to drive over it. Nothing left to do but get out, pick it up and lay it in the undergrowth. Oh, did I mention it was 4+ feet long and 2 1/2 inches around? Never understood why folks are afraid of non-poisonous snakes. I saw a really big black snake down at our rural cabin last year. We're pretty sure it was a rat shake. It was up on our front porch, probably what messed with some wren eggs in a nest in a small watering can I had hanging on the porch post. When I opened the screen to go out, he leaped off the porch and scurried underneath the raised cabin. I scared it more than he scared me. He was about 4' long and about 1" in diameter. Rat snakes do eat bird eggs and can get quite large. They also eat mice. All good things down at the cabin. No camera in hand, but he looked like this one in a photo off the net:

Then we also had another type of rat snake get into the potted plant up on the porch. He was about 3' long:

For the same reason people are afraid of spiders.

@Peggy8b Maybe some variety of garter snake? There are many.
Slava Ukraini!

The aboriginal peoples and many cultures throughout the world share a common respect for nature and the universe, and all of the life that it holds. We could learn much from them!
