Finally got around to doing something with the lid. It has Epiphyllum oxypetalum cuttings, Coleus, wax Begonias, Tradescantia fluminensis.


And have an old wheelbarrow with rust holes, home to a Begonia 'Withlacoochee' this summer.

I love the leaves on that begonia. And I can see that it has tiny white blooms. How sweet.

I agree, TY. Can u believe I got that for $8 about a month ago? (Not all Mom'n'Pop stores are more expensive, u don't know until u find them & go!) I took about 15 cuttings off of it the day after I got it home. I used some "good" ground dirt to fill these too, no budget for bags of store-bought. It's really nice & dark, should be fine for the season. Easy to dump out & put "new" dirt whenever it seems like I should.

Sounds like it is working very well for you. I wouldn't be able to do that with our heavy clay soil.
That was really a great deal on that plant.

Finally got out there early enough to get a pic with the Tahitian bridal veil (Gibasis geniculata) blooming. Some Begonia cuttings are starting to join in on the fun too.

I love the leaf colors of the Gibasis geniculata in your photo. I had no idea of how lovely the blooms are until I went to the database entry and found your close up of a bloom from last year. How exquisite the blooms are. I had no idea. Thank you for posting the photos. I may have to give this plant a try for next years hanging baskets.

TY for the kind words, much appreciated! I think you would enjoy Gg as a filler/spiller with other things. As a stand-alone it can be a bit disappointing, the blooms can be stingy about opening and are very small, but the leaves are noticeably purple on the back all of the time. :+)

The color of the leaves is very attractive.

TYVM! I've got cuttings of both Begonias going in pots already. I haven't decided for sure whether I'm going to try to grab the whole root ball of the big plant or just cut its' stems. Thinking I'll probably try the former, and if it doesn't go well, end up doing just the latter. It would make a fine hanging plant, but a really wide one. Both are new to me this year, IDK how they might respond to coming inside at all... but I've got high hopes for successful survival!
