Have been watching this thread and droolling. Jeff dug up my Teaspoon when he was here for R-U in May because it grew so much it covered up several other mini's. It truly was too big to be in the bed I had designated for my mini's . He said it was "registered" as a mini but probably wasn't.

Can you have mini's in pots and have them survive our cold Iowa winters?

Those that are "registered" as minis are constantly changing. There's a whole discussion list on Yahoo groups about the subject. As some varieties outgrow the designation they are removed and others are being added.

minihosta.yahoogroups.com should help you find it if you are interested in lurking or contributing.

I was a very lucky girl to receive this as a gift in May. It's doing well in its new home.

He told me it had been growing for 4 years and has not gotten any bigger than that so it appears to be a mini. I would guess he hybridized it or he's pulling my leg naming it after me. I thought it was very thoughtful on his part.

I think I NEED one of those! But I gather it's not registered. Who has developed that?

Looks like it is doing very well for you Arlene, and I am glad you are enjoying it.

'Twin Lakes Diva' is a 4 year old seedling of mine that I have long lost it's background info and Arlene, you have the only one of it. It is a gift to a very special person and good friend.

I sure hope it continues to stay a mini, it is vigorous so I bet it will make a good size mound and I don't think the leaves will get much bigger. Being kept in a 16oz cup for it's life and now it's growing in the ground it may suprise me.

Most hostas that are available for sale are not registered with the AHS and don't need to be to be introduced for sale. All the registration is for is an official record of what the plant is and who it's from, and that can be incorrect too, it has nothing to do with having it available for sale. Example: how many Ron Livingston plants are intro'd for sale and he only has 3 listed on the registry and only one of them is his own plant. Also there are more registered plants that will never be for sale than are or have been at some time. http://www.hostaregistrar.org/...

Thanks for the information, Jeff. And thank you so much for that sweet hosta. I will keep posting pictures of it here and if it gets to the size I can share with others, I certainly will.

Christine,
Glad you like it but I won't be posting my address in the too near future. Hilarious!

I will sure share when the time comes. It is a beauty and I feel so honored Jeff gifted it to me. I think it is the most exciting thing that has happened for me this season.

I told you above that I would post Snow Mouse. I finally got some pics of it - she's not very big, but here she is.

Great minis everyone. I am watching this thread as I am going to start getting some of the minis next year. I've been doing the maxis the last couple of years.

Love Snow Mouse! Aren't those mice so cute.
