Thinking Outside the Box! Re-Purposing Stock Tanks as Raised Garden Beds

By Ecograndma

Do you have limited gardening space? Do you have poor gardening soil? Would you like to limit water use? Is it necessary for you to garden in a seated position or are you tired of stooping over a garden bed? Re-purposing stock tanks as raised garden beds might work for you while avoiding the high cost of labor and materials in traditional construction.

I love your paint jobs and especially that it can be enjoyed by everyone. Would love some updated pictures with your flowers/crops growing!! Hurray!
I hate losing plants....I know they are "just plants" but when you nurse them along and baby them and get them to grow, bloom, and be pretty and they die....it's like losing a friend..... Crying

Ditto that!

This is fantastic for those bound to wheelchairs or as you say when you don't want to/can't kneel anymore. Fabulous!

Boy! I really like this idea! (Though the stock tanks are probably out of my price range since I garden on a tight budget.) The paint job really does add to the whole scheme of things! Quite adorable and what a great idea! I, too, want to see it when the plants have filled it up. Thumbs up Hurray!

These are just lovely and the colors just pop!

There is a property we pass when we drive so Spartanburg SC and they have taken 8 claw foot tubs and used them like you do. They have 4 on each side. It's really cool.

Thanks for all of your wonderful comments. To cut costs we are looking for different sizes of tanks and used ones on Craig's list and farm sales.

It is so nice to actually bend only a few feet to work on the plants. The main purpose was to install these for my husband, but I benefit as well. And the grand kids love them. They are at their eye level. My granddaughter wants to add some fairies for good luck so I see fairies in our future.
