Getting our fair share now. I actually brought in a few of my succulent pots for this round. We have got some crazy neon colored fungi growing around here. I hope it does not start growing on me. Stay safe everyone. Still a few more weeks of this system.

Nothing here. Another 1/4" of drizzle w/o wind or lightening. Obviously other places got troublesome weather. How'd you folks come out of it all? I hope you were spared any damage.

The creek at the corner of my place where the road crosses the creek flashed up a little as large amounts of wood, debris and landscape timbers all ended up piled up on one side and kind of dammed up the large pipes under the road. What a mess...hopefully, it won't repeat that tomorrow when the forecast includes another flash flood watch! In another part of the subdivision, people in cars had to wait until the creek receded at that flooded creek crossing to get across. But considering some areas of Texas had houses washed away or flooded, this is really no big deal here.

The heavy rain amounts did not pan out like they predicted here but those in the SW part of Houston did have a tornado with some roof and tree damage. There was some rain this morning. It came down hard and with the winds made it dangerous on the roads for a time. But pretty much, that was it. The street flooding drained away quickly. I think we barely got 1/2" of rain. But debris is everywhere.
I hope everyone in Central Texas fared well.

When the weather guy says your subdivision "will be in the path of two tornadoes in the next 26 minutes and to take shelter," you get a little antsy. Fortunately for us, they veered west toward Hwy 290. No one was prepared for how much water went into the rivers and creeks. San Marcos and Wimberly took the worst of it. Still have people missing.

There's a reason why the Texas Hill Country is also known as Flash Flood Alley, considered to be THE worst region in the country for flood fatalities! One dead, 12 missing in the Hill Country, I heard on the news. 8 of the missing (from 3 Corpus Christi families) were said to be staying at a vacation rental when a wall of water (from the river, I think) hit and washed it away. Never underestimate the danger of flash flooding! There was also one lady in S.A. who crossed a barrier and paid with her life earlier. As development increases along those rivers and creeks and in flood plains, the potential for loss of life increases. Me? You couldn't pay me enough to get me to live in such areas! Now they're reporting confirmed tornados on the ground in one area.

Yes, that will make you antsy. Watching one come toward you does that too! It missed, but barely. I'm not sure how anyone can ever be completely prepared for events like these. The news from Wimberly, Kyle and San Marcos sound awful. The photos being posted online are showing horrendous destruction. It's nice to be missed, but it would be nicer by a lot if it didn't occur.

The rain has been nearly non stop since noon. All the large pots in the backyard are full of water with no chance to drain. Some of the succulents have melted away.

I don't want to ever see a tornado, not even a water spout! Tornadoes all around, but not less than about ten miles from us. We were on the warning alert early this afternoon, but it veered. Now, it's the low water crossings that are closed. @Ecscuba is in Georgetown, which had a tornado touchdown.

One of our daughter's friends has a bed and breakfast in Wimberley. The town was full of tourists, campers, and folks from out of town attending three weddings yesterday. The B&B owners went back to their home to check on it and saw water coming under the door. They gathered some things and when they started downstairs, the water broke the windows on the first floor, filled the house with water and washed the stairs away. They were rescued, but the house is a goner.

(To add to our misery, there's a break in the water line at the street. Fortunately, it's on the city's side. It's bubbling up from the manhole and running onto the driveway. Our neighbor alerted us last evening. Emergency guy came out, took photos, and left. Said someone would be out on Tuesday. This morning there's spray paint of different colors with cable, gas, and other signing off that it's alright to tear up the street!)

In the hill country it's probably best to avoid driving if possible. Water tends to run very fast in the hills. I'm thinking with all that rain there may be some water crossings that aren't marked as such. Hope you get a break soon.

Downtown Austin is flooding from Shoal Creek. Lamar and 15th just had a water rescue live on TV. Gotta love those firemen!

They've opened the flood gates on the dam and let water into Lady Bird Lake. Now LB lake is out of its banks. This looks worse than the 1981 Memorial Day flood.

We have a little lake house on Lake LBJ. Hope it's still standing!

Wow! That was intense! We needed to take cover several times. The weather anchors streaming live could hardly keep up with all the potential tornadoes dropping. We had a cell go right over us but it did not drop thank goodness. I had a dream last night about six tornadoes coming over the ridge and so when the storm was at its worst I was pretty much freaking out.

We watched that live boat rescue in Austin. That boy is very lucky. I am sure by tomorrow morning we will be seeing the reports of all the damage and it will be pretty bad. We have a seasonal creek at the bottom of our hill that is a raging river right now.

We had what I'm almost certain a tornado a few minutes ago. Countless huge oaks trees are flat on the ground. Happily everyone here is safe but without power.
