It is raining so I cannot take photos, but the C. Little Flame, C. Beaufort, and C. luteola are really cute! Aerides multiflora has a marvelous scent.

Repotted a few small Phals that I grew from seedlings out of flask. They are doing quite well. They should be blooming sized by next season.

Melissa, at what point do you quit calling an orchid plant a "seedling", whether it is grown from flask, compot, or plug? When it is no longer a seedling, what term do you then use?

Well officially the Phals that I put in 3" pots are NBS. Most folks consider NBS about 1-2 years from blooming. Until then, they are seedlings.

That is what I go by.

It looks like big storms are coming in from the east. Lots of thunder but no rain yet.

I got 10 more yards of mulch down this weekend. That is 30 cu yds. spread in May. That was my goal.

Awesome, Jim, you are the King of Mulch. I'd feel good if I could get 10 bags of mulch laid down!

Yes, I can see lightning in the east too, there's a big line of storms all up and down the coast. But the radar map shows those big juicy storms are probably going to miss me again . .. well can't complain, we got one nice little 'pop up' shower this afternoon and a solid inch of rain in about 15 minutes. After that the temperature was a pretty civilized mid-80's.

Not so daintily here, we had a major deluge here today and it is still rumbling steadily. We sure needed it!

It looks like a lot of us got rain this afternoon. We had a significant thunderstorm that dumped over an inch in 3/4 hr. Lots of wind and lightening too. Ursula, I hope your orchids were not intimidated with our southern weather. At least they both got rain rather than tap water. Whistling

I would like to have a tin roof in my next house, I miss hearing the rain. Well I miss more than hearing the rain, my husband and I had a trailer outside Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri when we first got married!
Ya just a little bit of a tin roof and I'll be happy.

Well, I guess my complaints were heard, we did get a good bit of rain from these late storms after all. Another inch of water in the pool and pond that won't have to come out of the tap Hurray! and the rain barrels are all brimming.

On the other hand, I did fertilize all my orchids this morning, so I hope they ate up all the goodies before they were washed off!

Well I've been lurking and looking at everyone's great blooms. I've been sick for over a week and even had to call in reinforcements to get the horses taken care of and one of my boarders even watered all the mounted orchids for me as she hangs around alot when I'm fiddling with the plants. Pretty sure I've got something out there blooming as several were budding up. Hopefully I'm be more up to tooling around outside.

Jim , Elaine, we sure could use some of that rain up here. We are dry dry dry.
God gave us wings. He just called them horses

Oh yes, my Orchids are very happy, they got a really good rinse, much needed, and the rain is still lingering about today.
And finally, the pond is full too!

And now I just started a new thread for the month of June, please all follow me there

drdawg said:I just know someone out there knows what this Vanda is. I have had the plant for about 10 years, don't have a clue where it even came from (probably given to me by a patient when the plant looked dead) and it blooms twice a year, every year. I love the flowers and would love to have a name on it. I don't give up easily. Sighing!

RF Orchids says this plant is almost definitely a V. tessellata hybrid and probably one of the ones hybridized by Louis Hatos. I might actually have a "rare" plant according to the information I received. This information gets me a little closer to being able to put a name on the orchid. Right now I could label it V. tessellata hybrid.

@DrDawg, would you please be so kind and move your interesting post to the June thread. I am afraid it is ignored here?
Much appreciated! Smiling
