That's kind of part of what I had in mind for Little Rock, but have/had no idea how to accomplish it:
Thumb of 2015-05-04/kylaluaz/67667b

Stuck some slate shards up on edge thinking I might figure out how to, yanno, get stuff growing in there, but I'm not really doing it right yet.....

I agree Greg. And maybe slanted toward, not parallel with the sidewalk. Play around with five or so pieces without dirt, until you find what looks pleasing.
Kind of like this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?...

Bill found this on the property, I think I should use it for some semps!

That is so cool. I can picture picture a cascading over that low spot. Lovey dubby
The arach type semps are very good for doing that.

I can't find my other photo of it when it was almost to the ground in a solid mass.

I removed all the hanging down offsets, so now it will start all over again this summer. It should have some blooming happening this year. Smiling

That terra cotta pipe is awesome, Terri! I can see it half buried in another larger pot, with something trailing over its edge.....

Lyn thanks for that video. Originally the little slate pieces were slanted much more obliquely than almost parallel, but as things occurred to the bed I kept having to reposition them. I may play with it more but I like them for their visual appeal even if there is no actual crevice garden happening (though who knows how it will evolve??)

Greg, LOL! I need more rocks, period. I've used every one that was to hand! and that pea gravel mostly goes as mulch in pots.... So, yepper, moar rocks. Green Grin!
