Oh my. I agree, they do need an application of a general purpose fungicide. I would remove any dead or mushy roots and make sure to clean your tools well to prevent spreading the problem. If they were in the ground, I would make sure to treat that area with fungicide also. As Larry said, do not plant them back in that location. Use a good fast draining soil in containers and keep them in good strong light.

Another question: H. festalis is a hybrid, and usually these are either sterile or do not come true from seed. But does this one actually produce viable seed; even if they don't come true?

Hi, Lee-Roy.

The ATP Plant Database entry has some suggestions for growing H. harrisiana from seed, so I assume some of that seed must be viable.
Spider Lily (Hymenocallis harrisiana)

Gee, no one is listed as "HAVING" that species.

I was going to point out "a whole thread about your species!", but it is just the one where you asked a question and got no answer.

I went to the Spider Lily Database, but saw no moderator.

Dave posted photos of this plant, whose bloom form seems similar to yours:
Spider Lily (Hymenocallis liriosme)

I see at least five people here have H. festalis:

Here some pics of my bulbs. The mould on them few months ago had me panicking, but they're off now! Two of my harrisiana are even sending up a flower stalk if I'm right :D

Nothing is as pretty as a plant that just emerged from the soil.

OMG OMG OMG! (forgive me for that outburst :p ) but I was right; there are atleast two H. harrisiana sending up a flower stalk. After the horror of this late spring with the mould and all I never thought they'd bloom for me, but hey they are! Hurray! I'm already happy as Larry haha.

Flowers are opening rapidly now, but much to my disappointment they're also quickly fading again; lasting only for a maximum of two days at their best.

However I noticed something odd today. As you can see in the previous pics, all the flowers' pistils are long and hang well outside of the corolla. But today I had this flower whichs pistil remained inside, I could barely see it Blinking Different species or something genetic?

Don't know if you can see it in the picture, but it's the bottom flower.
