M., the info on the link you so kindly provided is correct with regards to our island being in the "typhoon alley," and it's true we rarely get direct hits [considering the number of storms that develop just southeast of us]. And yes, we are affected by those storms that do not hit us by virtue of the rains that are thrown our way.
But it is not true what your friend says, "buildings all look like bunkers because of the storms." Wonder if they only visited the bunkers on the battle sites. "It is known for white beaches and historic World War II battle sites."
We have beautiful Spanish-style homes and "haciendas," so please everyone, do not pass on the idea that we live in bunkers.
We're okay, just have a lot of work in cleaning up green debris.
