I started potting lilies a couple of years ago. I totally agree with you Cinta, it is a real pleasure when they start blooming in the containers.

Cinta, Lynn. I am tired of fighting the Voles. I was able to replace and add to my collection but when PollyK died it was a great friend gone and our collaboration on bulbs and plants ended also.
Potting is a great idea and will save my favorites.

Cinta. Pretty sure your red plant is Cordyline Red Star.

They all look great.

I did not expect to use my Armaryllis in my container garden but I forgot to bring them out last winter and they are starting to bloom.

My hardy glads are blooming I planted them in the perrenial pots last year with the lilies, and Spring bulbs.

No Lynn it would have died in my climate. I had it in the storage area that I keep my succulents. I usually keep Armaryllis in my sunroom and start to water them when I see the leaves growing. They were way in the back behind all the succulents and I never saw them until I started bringing them out for the summer. I have 6 pots of various color Armayllis.

I brought them outside and placed them behind the pots thinking they would get some sun and grow leaves through the summer. I guess since I did not get them up and growing last winter the decided to bloom for the summer.

This one bloomed before I was finished setting up the patio and it bloomed really short.

What a nice surprise that was. I wonder if they will bloom again this winter if fertilized?

Yes probably will bloom more. Because I have them in lots of sun and I will fertilize them every week weak (half fert dose). I just tohave to remember to put where I see them so I do not forget them again this winter. I should have flowers from Christmas to March as usual.

Cinta, those are wonderful, gives me hope of lilies blooming on my deck next year.
We have terrible luck with Amarillis.

Jo Ann I had trouble with them blooming every other year. I started putting them in blazing sun all summer and give them lots of fertilizer all summer. I give them half strength every week and they bloom without fail. They start blooming in Dec and do not stop until March-April.

I think those big blooms take a lot of energy so they need good stored up energy.

Great information Cinta. I will give that a try with one I have in the house right now. I'll put it outside and start doing what you said in the above post.
