Hurray! That is a beautiful sight! I love it when seeds show the first sign of life. Thumbs up

Update on my seeds:
Since I had to move to a new home in a hurry many plants got some rough treatment in transit, then got neglected while the move took place. I have what looks like two survivors from the original batch. I have learned a lot from this casual experiment and next time I see ripe seeds I will make a more serious attempt. Thumbs up

New update:
Now that winter is gone and Spring has arrived I check on my poor neglected babies and there are not two, but 7 (seven) survivors. Wow!

Maybe I should write a book titled "The Neglected Garden - A Success Story". Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

I had no clue what I was doing when I began this experiment; no clue that I would be moving everything I own in a big hurry. One thing I have learned is to not assume that a plant has died just because there is no visible plant part above the soil surface. Patience. Thumbs up

Update:
The 'mother' plant has made some lovely seed pods; the ripe seeds; the bagged seed pods.

In a few days I will harvest the seeds and try the experiment again. Crossing Fingers!

There was a yard sale at a local church and I was given a bunch of the organza bags for free. Hurray!
Free is good and wow, it sure is colorful. Thumbs up Rolling on the floor laughing

Note: In the background is my solar light experiment.
I stuffed an entire string of solar fairy lights (75% off after Xmas) into an empty bottle (repurposed Bourbon bottle), place the upturned bottle into a remnant of pressure treated column (free from a friend who works construction) with the solar collector facing south. It's been working for about a year. Hurray!

Greene, I saved some seeds from my white amaryllis. If I get any up, should I bring them in for the winter or leave them out in their container? Shrug!

Sheesh, I am not any kind of expert since I practice 'gardening by neglect and forgetfulness' most of the time; please do your research or post the question on the "Ask a Question" Forum. I would hate to tell you wrong information. *Blush*

That being said, since you are in zone 8a and I am in zone 8b perhaps you could just use the same water process to start the seeds now. Yikes, you have been a member for a whole year and do not yet have your location listed. Sad What is your location? Maybe you could take a few minutes to complete your profile page and enter your city/state/country? You can use the closest large city if you want to protect your privacy. Knowing your location would be helpful when you post questions. Thumbs up
