I subscribe to Brian Reeder's Blog site and updates. He is a breeder of various living things (chickens were his specialty), but he has ventured into daylilies for about 5 years now. He is breeding for rust resistance, but in the process has discovered some other very interesting things about some genetics in some daylily cultivars and crosses.
I received an email update to his blog this morning and read his newest page. I found it very interesting and reflected back 2 years ago when I had a bad infestation of thrips in one of my daylily beds. Among the majority that were infected were some that were not even fazed by thrips or any other damage. Instead of taking note of this fact, I just dismissed it. After reading Brian's newest blog page, I think I need to take more extensive notes and pay closer attention to what is going on in my garden. It could be information that will greatly benefit my own hybridizing.
