August update on my Caladiums. All containers are nicely filled with its colorful leaves
This is the last part of this container that finally showed leaf growth, for awhile I thought that tuber is a goner..apparently just a very slow one:
And the other three containers:
So the next observation aspect will be when it will start to slow down and sleep..for now summer temps and daily watering goes so well for all of them

Did you see Sharon's blog post today with her gorgeous ones? I wish I had dug out mine and saved them over the winter. Mine never got as large and nice as yours, probably never got warm enough here.

As nasty these triple digit temps went this week..one nice side..it is the temps Caladiums enjoy immensely as long as watered well ahead before the blazing heat sets in everyday. Got to find something nice with this incessant heat!

My caladiums in this container looks so lousy and spent today. We had a cool down yesterday, which was nice actually just in the high 70's but it was so windy the whole day and temps went down to 58F last night.
Poor plants, hope they will perk up a bit, gave them a good drink:
My garden is being overrun by all those falling leaves..my daily clean-up chore.

Oh it is such an annual month long or so chore at this time..till winter sets in, got to keep cleaning it up, so if it does rain, the drain will not get clogged.
As for the caladiums, they were just thirsty after all, so they are again upright and perky!

Hi Kelli..is cottonwood like some type of poplar too? Have not seen any cotton like product from this tree though. Just the usual catkins in spring, and the never ending leaves that goes deciduous during winter. Whatever the are, they do provide me good shade during the hot days but just messy when it is trying to conserve its resources before it goes to sleep for the cold season.

My grandparents had a cottonwood tree and they called it a poplar tree. I don't remember if it shed cotton. Cottonwoods are poplars. Only female plants shed the cotton. According to Sunset, mostly male plants are offered in nurseries.
I love Lombardy Poplars...I tried them a couple of times in FB and they didn't like it there...wish I had room for them here.
Here, I've planted one hawthorn, one rowan / mountain ash (whichever), one Vine Maple, one Paperbark Maple and one alder. I'm eyeing another alder that has popped up in a spot where I may just leave it. The alder I planted theother day is planted in a spot where I won't mind if I lose it in the future.
