Granalene - Thank you for clarifying that all but SDC and JM are the only two that you haven't seen any rust on! I expect that most "rust resistant" daylilies do eventually show some rust. But if the rust is always minimal then that is what I am looking for! I have a LOT of rust in my garden because most of the cultivars and seedlings I am currently growing are apparently NOT rust resistant. I have some that do show resistance. I have even seen some that have the rust spot but the rust dies on them. Those make me very curious. The rust will attack them, but then the rust dies on them. That is interesting to see and acceptable to me for "rust resistance".
Since you are in Alabama, I suspect that you do get some snow or at least freezing temps for part of the Winter. That probably kills any active rust because the freezing temps kill the foliage to the ground (which is where the rust lives), so that may also be why you don't have an excessive amount of rust (like I do). Rust is not a problem for gardeners living up north as the cold Winters literally kill the rust and make it nearly impossible to survive each Winter.
Living in Florida, the best I can hope for is daylilies that do show some actual resistance. Believe me .... if you saw my rust-bucket daylilies, you'd be thrilled to have some that show resistance even if they do still get a "some" rust! That is what I am looking for! I want foliage that still looks decent (not likely perfect, but presentable).
Thank you SO MUCH for responding and sharing your experience with resistant named daylilies! It is very helpful to me in my pursuit of better foliage!
