Aww gee, thanks y'all. It was sitting on that dead branch you see in the picture & I had the camera up & ready, put my finger on the shutter & that's the very moment it flew the coop. I was sure all I got was a blur but instead it turned out a happy accident. This is one of our residents on the property here. They have been making a ruckus all day long today! I don't mind but they sure have been vocal today. MUCH better than hearing the crows squawk.

Lin, I'm so glad that little green heron got away! I do love my hawks but I don't like seeing them get birds. Squirrels ok but birds I'd rather pretend they don't get.

Ann, your picture on the fly is better than mine on the fly. I had a window in the way. I could dig up the picture, but it's not pretty. I did see an up close Red-shouldered Hawk a couple of weeks ago at a raptor rehab place. It was a young one. He had a hard time eating early on, but I found out today he is doing much better.

Thanks Kim. Usually they hang out in a dead tree on one of the branches that is way high up & my zoom just isn't strong enough to capture any kind of a good photos when they're up there. They also like to hang out in the pecan grove but when they're in there it's like good luck trying to get a good shot with all that foliage & other trees in the way and by the time you can get close enough they've decided to change location.

Nice pics, I was at KY Lake and took a few shot of this Blue Heron. I was busy fishing and missed taking pics of 2 eagles!!

Teresa, I hope you at least caught some fish for missing the shots of the eagles.

Lol, it was a slow day so I was really disappointed, but thrilled for getting to see them at least!

Teresa, love the Heron perched on that branch over the water! Glad you got to see some Eagles too ... sorry about the fishing but I bet getting to see those beautiful birds made up for it.

Thank you, I had another shot when he had both legs down but I thought this one was funny with only one!

It is interesting when they stand like that with one leg tucked up beneath them and balancing on the other.
