Every morning, most days, I check in on my favorite threads and read what folks are up to. It's a treat for me in the busy days of work and family and trying to fit in time to care for the garden. Also followed Dave here from that other site, and cubit piggy seed swap pretty much furnishes most of the seeds in my garden. Such a great stress reliever for my busy life and atmosphere is so positive!

My parents taught me everything I know about gardening, starting when I was a little girl, and all the way up to their unexpected deaths last year. My mother passed away very suddenly; my father, who had been diagnosed with cancer the day before she died, fought hard to live "long enough to see my daylilies one last time." With the help of Paul from Slightly Different Nursery, we chose a daylily to name after Dad, and he lived long enough to see it bloom in his garden as well as in all his children's gardens, which are scattered all over the country. I found ATP when I wanted to put a photo of his daylily out into the world for people to appreciate. This year, I began using ATP to catalogue my own plants, and learn from other gardeners, since my two experts are in a different garden now. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate the information, the photos, and the community. What a wonderful place.

What a lovely tribute, Nancy. What is the name of your special flower?

Thank you, Deb!

My mum and dad had an absolutely gorgeous backyard in Massachusetts, with a stunning daylily bed right in the middle.

My dad's daylily is Hemerocallis 'Don Nelson.' It is now in Minnesota, California, and Colorado, as well as Massachusetts.

Nancy - Beautiful named daylily in memory (or honor at the time) of your dad. I have the same aspirations to name and register some daylilies after some of my beloved relatives past and present. I think your beautiful daylily lives up to it's namesake! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!

Happy 4 years anniversary to All Things Plants.

I am a apartment dweller without a garden, yard or terrace with many attempts to garden indoors under lights. Until recently for the first time in 15 years living without my dear kitty. Observing from the side lines has taught me so much or should I say that it has been a lovely learning experience. Waiting to use my knowledge one of these days. I really enjoy oohing and aahing over everyone's plants, projects and great finds. This site has a wealth of information and knowledge that a novice like me can easily absorb and the more experienced growers can and do teach.
Wishing the best to ATP and the members who fill these pages with love.

Ivy
