I lost most of my German when I had to learn English to go to school but I can still understand a lot of it, picked it up pretty quick when I went to Germany to visit family for 2 weeks in 2009.

Calif_Sue , I Lived in Goppingen , for 3 yrs in 1960 , My Grandfather was born in something like Gephardt Germany .
I was born in Illinois , at a holding gift of the Holden family , That family was part of J.P. Morgan's Empire One of the Holden family is standing with J.P. Morgan in a old picture ,
Of course William Holden the actor was the outcast of that family ,
Centuries of history in all this here ,,

My great-grandparents were from Germany, and we still have a cousin living on the ancestral property in a little place named Eifel. My brother has been there to visit (he speaks German). Fun stuff, as we knew nothing about that side of the family till my brother started looking years ago.

I don't know family there , only my Grandparent Charles Elmer Stoeller Jr , And great Grandad was the Sr, . A fairly common German name ,
It was interesting there , I like (love) home though picture roughly 1963
