Thanks,

I waited until the scape turned brown just beneath the proliferation. I didn't want to cut it too soon. I cut about an inch beneath the proliferation. I placed it in a small contained with water up to the crown. The one inch stem helped to hold it up. In about a week I had a few roots protruding from the bottom of the prolif.... I then pot planted it outside. It seems to be doing okay...I hope it makes it. The mother plant is a beautiful pink NOID.

Some others with a lot more experience may chime in as well with better information. This was my first time in two years seeing a proliferation.

Pat, thanks for your reply, I put them in water last year, and then potted them up after the roots grew, and kept them in a southern window all winter. This year I have to many, I would say over 30, to do that, not enough room. I have one month until our average first frost, so I'm not sure there is enough time to put in water to grow roots, and then plant out side.

Thank you,
Gale

Gale, I have had success with planting them directly into the ground or potting them. The trick is to keep it really moist until they get rooted in.

I think it may just be based on preference and when your area will experience frost or how harsh your winters are as to what your options are.

Just my opinion of course.
